En Tuhaf Maceralar . The Strangest Adventures

Client: Gabrielle Reeves, artist

Project: Graphic design for poster & publication design for exhibition catalogue.

Created promotional visuals and catalogue for a solo show at Istanbul Concept Studio.

Goals/strategy: I drew from themes outlined in the artist statement for research, aiming to modernize vintage elements while balancing a feeling of strength, femininity, and fierce independence.

“For now she need not think of anybody. She could be herself, by herself. And that was what now she often felt the need of - to think; well not even to think. To be silent; to be alone. All the being and the doing, expansive, glittering, vocal, evaporated; and one shrunk, with a sense of solemnity, to being oneself, a wedge-shaped core of darkness, something invisible to others... and this self having shed its attachments was free for the strangest adventures.“ Virginia Woolf, To the Lighthouse

The design language arose from vintage rodeo promotional material and early Turkish feminist magazines. We retained the basic structure of the last exhibition’s catalog but incorporated sea iconography and more versatile type.
